Searching for clues.

Today we did a lot of waiting around and tests.  During the night they started giving him platelets.  His count was 14 and it needed to be 75 before the doctor could do the lumbar puncture.  In the meantime he couldn’t eat or drink anything.  About 2 this afternoon a nuerologist came to check him.  After an exam and hearing his story she said that there was no reason to do the lumbar puncture to get spinal fluid.  She said that if there was any problem with the fluid, his symptoms would have been more general.  Since his symptoms were only in his right side that ruled out the need to check the fluid.  So Stephen started drinking sprite and eating crackers.  The doctor did want an echo-cardiograph and an MRA done.  The echo was to check for any changes in his heart and to see if he had a little hole in his heart like many people do.  That all checked out with no problems.  The MRA is like an MRI but it checks the blood vessels in the brain.  It uses the same type of machine and you get to listen to the same banging noises that you get with an MRI.  That test finished up around 5:30 or 6:00.  We won’t get any information or results on that test until tomorrow.   In the meantime, his symptoms are gone and he is feeling fine.

He is definately nervous about it.  The whole thing was a really big scare for all of us.  I guess you could say it ‘freaked him out’ to not have control over part of his body and not to be able to get the right words out of his mouth.   Scary stuff!  Right now all is well and he is sleeping soundly.  He feels very safe and comfortable here in his old hosptial room at LDS hospital.

Thanks for all your continued prayers and faith.  Love to you all.
