We met with the Transplant team at LDS hosptial today and learned about all types of treatments and what the most effective treatment for Stephen’s situation would be.
Here is the plan:
One more treatment of Brentuximab Vedotin(given as soon as possible) while we wait for his body to heal a little more from the surgery. Next, a Stem Cell Transplant using BEAM chemotherapy(3rd week of April or so). Recover for 2 months. Another Stem Cell Transplant using Radiation therapy(4th week of June or so). Recover. And the final step…be cured from Hodgkin Lymphoma forever. That is the plan.
There are a lot of details that go along with the plan, like more bone marrow testing, replacing his current port with a fancy one, shots, collecting enough stem cells for both transplants etc. However, I am under strict instructions from Stephen to keep my explanations simple. (how did I do?)
I’ll probably post more often for a while now to help create a record of his treatment. I think he will be glad to have it one day and it is somewhat theraputic for me to put it into words.
Thanks for all your Support!
