Nothing too exciting has been occurring lately. Just more of the same. Treatments and waiting to see if the treatment works…
Stephen has been anxiously waiting for the second round of the new drugs. He will receive a treatment this coming Thursday, January 26, 2012. It has been interesting observing the differences with this treatment. He didn’t feel sick from the infusion at all. He did get a slight rash that we treated with Benadryl. However, it didn’t knock out his cancer symptoms like the previous chemo-therapies have. The doctor said that this, more targeted approach, is slower but doesn’t kill a lot of other cells as it works. Before starting the Brentuximab Vedotin, Stephen had most of his cancer symptoms back – occasional fever, abdominal pain, cough and a little itching. His cough has definitely gone away, so that is a good sign. He still has a lot of abdominal pain. We keep hoping that it will stop soon, perhaps with the next treatment. His hair has started growing back. It is coming in really dark brown, almost black. He is happy about getting some hair on his head. He was getting sick of being bald.
I wanted to post a few pictures of the last month. Thanks to all those who ate at Chick-fil-a. It was a fun day. I put a few pictures from dinner there in. We really appreciate Jennie’s dance studio who donated all of their proceeds from their last dance performance to Stephen. It was a significant contribution and a sacrifice on the part of the studio. Thanks Extreme Rhythm Clogging and a special thanks to the directors Bethany Hulse and Amber Henrie for arranging everything.
Stephen will have a PT scan around the 2nd week of February and we will find out if this new drug is working. We’ll post another update then.
Thanks for all your kindness, generosity, prayers and love. We feel it and it is a huge support to us!
